Benjamin Holmes, LCSW

As someone who sacrificed countless hours away from his family to complete the 3,000 clinical hours and 100 supervision hours required for licensure, Benjamin Holmes understands firsthand how demanding—and often isolating—the path to becoming a licensed mental health professional can be.

Out of that experience grew his passion to create a better way forward. Benjamin believed there had to be a less disruptive, more supportive path for therapists pursuing licensure, one that didn’t come at the expense of their well-being or values. That conviction became the foundation of Benjamin Holmes Counseling (BHC) and its mission:

“Benjamin Holmes Counseling exists to provide a vocational setting in which mental health professionals can build and maintain their careers according to their own values.”

To ensure this mission is lived out daily, BHC is guided by three core principles:

  • Autonomy of the Professional

  • Support of the Professional

  • Promotion of the Professional

Benjamin’s leadership philosophy is simple: when therapists are well-supported and empowered, they not only thrive in their own careers but also provide the highest quality of care to their clients. BHC embraces a post-graduate education model similar to that of the medical field.

Resident Therapists—clinicians who have earned graduate degrees but are working toward licensure—receive in-house supervision from Attending Therapists, who are fully licensed (LCSW or LPC-MHSP). Residents benefit from weekly supervision, biweekly staff meetings, ongoing CEU opportunities, and support in pursuing advanced trainings such as EMDR and Brainspotting.

At Benjamin Holmes Counseling, the goal is clear: to build a culture where mental health providers can flourish—professionally, personally, and in the lives of the clients they serve.
